Katrin Korfmann: Lift, 5 min. 32 sec.

Lift, 5 min. 32 sec.

In her United States debut, Amsterdam based artist Katrin Korfmann will present large scale light boxes whose images are made up of multiple stills from her video work. To create these works Korfmann uses every fourth frame from a one or two minute video to create disjointed studies of peoples movements in public places. The works show common activities that are broken up in such a way that as a viewer we seek to give the image wholeness and fill in the gaps. The exhibit will be accompanied by a fully illustrated catalog with an essay by James Scarborough.

This exhibition and its accompanying catalog were made possible by a generous contribution from the Mondriaan Foundation, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
