Kristi Kent: Excerpts from the Habitat

Excerpts from the Habitat

Kristi Kent's first major solo exhibition is a five part installation based on dioramas and the poetics of paper theaters, magic lanterns, and amusement park rides. Kent's imagery draws equally from the pop culture, film, and art of our century and reflects the visual culture we are exposed to on a daily basis. The installation will feature four "habitats" as maquettes while the fifth will be a large mechanized drum shaped sculpture incorporating various digital images of famous screams from film and art history. The five works are excerpts from a larger body of work that could eventually encompass over a hundred works.
