Lynn Aldrich: Light and Space and Dark and Tight

Light and Space and Dark and Tight

Lynn Aldrich will debut five new sculptures in her second show with the gallery. Aldrich continues to expand her repertoire of new store bought materials to include rain gutters, downspouts, and birdcages, along with corrugated plastic panels and sewing threads. Using labor-intensive accumulation to compose the works, and emphasizing the metaphors inherent to the materials, Aldrich composes large-scale sculptures that engage the imagined light and space that is within, under, and outside of the gallery space. Emphasizing what is present in the materials Aldrich’s work seeks an authentic transcendence through works and materials that function in the area between abstraction and representation.
